Thorn Lewis + Duncan provides a full range of accounting and tax services with a level of professionalism and expertise normally associated with national or large regional accounting firms. As a local practice, however, our firm has a much greater sensitivity to the individual circumstances, personalities, and operating environment of our clients. Our competitive advantage lies in our ability to offer professionalism in a wide range of accounting, tax and advisory services while maintaining a level of personal attention that few, if any, large accounting firms can match.
Affiliations Nationally and Worldwide
Thorn Lewis + Duncan is affiliated with accounting firms nationally through PKF North America. PKF NA is an association of 88 independently owned public accounting firms that share educational, client services, technical and marketing resources and expertise. Members have a similar relationship with more than 150 additional firms around the world through their affiliation with PKF International. Membership in PKF NA allows us to significantly broaden our firms representation and provides the technical support so critical in our ever-changing and expanding profession.
Firm History
Our firm was founded in 1985 by William T. Thorn. Bill began his career in 1971 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells nka Sells nka Deloitte. where he served as the partner in charge of the tax department of its Dayton, Ohio office.
In 1987, Darrel W. Hollenbacher joined Mr. Thorn and they purchased the Dayton office of Meaden & Moore, a regional firm based in Cleveland, Ohio. The firm name became Thorn & Hollenbacher, Inc.
Robert W. Lewis joined the firm in 1987. Bob began his career in 1978 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells nka Deloitte. where he served as a senior manager in its Dayton, Ohio office.
In 1996, William D. Duncan combined his practice with Thorn & Hollenbacher, Inc. Bill began his career in 1974 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells nka Deloitte. where he served as a manager in its Dayton, Ohio office. From 1985 to 1995 Bill was a partner in the CPA firm of Stout and Duncan, Inc.
In 1998, Mr. Hollenbacher resigned from the firm to accept a position with one of our clients. The firm name became Thorn, Lewis & Duncan, Inc. in June 1998.
In 2002, Donald J. Schrodi became a shareholder. Don joined the firm in 1990 after beginning his career in the international accounting department at NCRs World Headquarters.
