Thorn Lewis + Duncan was founded in 1985 by William T. Thorn. Bill began his career in 1971 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells nka Sells nka Deloitte. where he served as the partner in charge of the tax department of its Dayton, Ohio office.
In 1987, Darrel W. Hollenbacher joined Mr. Thorn and they purchased the Dayton office of Meaden & Moore, a regional firm based in Cleveland, Ohio. The firm name became Thorn & Hollenbacher, Inc.
Robert W. Lewis joined the firm in 1987. Bob began his career in 1978 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells nka Deloitte. where he served as a senior manager in its Dayton, Ohio office.
In 1996, William D. Duncan combined his practice with Thorn & Hollenbacher, Inc. Bill began his career in 1974 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells nka Deloitte. where he served as a manager in its Dayton, Ohio office. From 1985 to 1995 Bill was a partner in the CPA firm of Stout and Duncan, Inc.
In 1998, Mr. Hollenbacher resigned from the firm to accept a position with one of our clients. The firm name became Thorn, Lewis & Duncan, Inc. in June 1998.
In 2002, Donald J. Schrodi became a shareholder. Don joined the firm in 1990 after beginning his career in the international accounting department at NCRs World Headquarters.
In 2016, Christina L. Sensenbrenner and Benjamin J. Tuschong became shareholders. Christina joined the firm in 1996 after beginning her public accounting career with Stout and Duncan, Inc. Ben joined the firm in 1998 after graduating from the University of Dayton.
In 2020, Harold H. Brown became shareholder. Harold joined the firm in 2001 after moving to Dayton from Memphis, TN where he had served in various business positions.
On January 1, 2021 Thorn Lewis + Duncan merged with Barnes Dennig, one of the region's largest accounting firms, in a move that expands services and opportunities for our clients, employees, and community.
